“When God Leads”

As believers, we say we want God to lead. There can be a great difference between expressing this and meaning it. Assuming we mean it, are we prepared for where God would lead us? Do we understand the circumstances into which He will lead us? If we understood ahead of time where and into what He might lead, would we still want God to lead us?

This three message series explores when God led the Hebrews out of slavery in Egypt, through the wilderness and into the Promised Land. Not only do we follow the Hebrews through their jubilation, crisis of belief and new beginnings in the land that God gave them, we will discover some surprising realities about following God, “When God Leads.”

This short study examines three events within a 40+ year span in the Hebrews’ history. Each event occurs against the literal backdrop of a large body of water. The Red Sea is in focus twice, while the Jordan River is in focus during the last episode. The impassible object, as the Hebrews will learn, is not the large body of water separating them from where they are and where they need to be. We will observe from a distance as God intentionally leads them into situations that appear, at least to the Hebrews, as “backs against the wall” circumstances. God, however, is correcting their “vision.”
