“The King, The Cross & The Empty Tomb”
These are the most important facts in history! Jesus is the King (of all kings). Though innocent, Jesus willingly died as our substitute. Jesus arose from the dead! This short series, “The King, The Cross, The Empty Tomb,” explores each of these facts and their implications for all of mankind.
These truths and their implications apply to all mankind of every era because Jesus is the reigning King, absolutely sovereign. There is no legitimate challenge, nor challenger. Though He is utterly innocent, He allowed Himself to be substituted in our place for a just punishment we deserve. What He submitted Himself to was inconceivably and excruciatingly painful. It wasn’t merely painful physically, as we might be able to imagine pain. It was painful to the Godhead in ways that exceed human comprehension because Jesus is innocent, holy God. Finally, He did not allow Himself to remain dead, but arose from the dead! Now, through Him by faith, man can saved, raised from spiritual death to spiritually alive!
There are many more implications and results. This series will look at His triumphant entry as the King, soberly examine His death and the means to that death by crucifixion and culminate on Resurrection Sunday by joining the women and their discovery of an empty tomb that glorious morning. Hopefully, we will be able to garner just a little of the frightful and joyous emotions they lived through in real time as they discovered that He is alive!
