“Priority Mail”

Have you ever received special mail, something sent PRIORITY or special delivery from someone very important?  Perhaps you received mail from a loved one, an employment opportunity or an acceptance letter to a school.

In the first century, 7 churches received letters sent directly to them from the Lord Jesus.  These letters were to be read publicly.

Can you imagine?  The Lord directly addressed the good, the bad and the ugly of these churches, publicly airing them out.  Jesus wants His church to be on target with their beliefs, their actions and their motivations.  He wants them to be on His mission, not their own.  Jesus will hold the church, His body, to account.

In this series, Priority Mail, we’ll look at the author of these letters, as well as the letters’ content.  Keep in mind, Jesus’ intention with the letters is to correct or reform the church.  May we receive His Word according to His intent, repent where necessary, and carry out His mission courageously. It reminds of the repeated phrase in Mark 4, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
