“Marked

Mark Bailey, one of the previous Presidents of Dallas Theological Seminary, once said, “There are a lot of people, I think, who shoot their arrows into the box and then draw a bull’s-eye around their arrow, thinking, ‘I’ve arrived. I’ve made it.’ And the question is, what was the goal?”

Too many Christians make up the goal from their own imaginations and predispositions. Sometimes they move the proverbial goalposts in order to still “fit” in a self constructed view of spiritual maturity.

This is not only unnecessary for two reasons. 1) Jesus gave us His goal for us, and His goal for us is the only one that matters. 2) He lays out in Scripture a process and a picture of that development. To pursue our perception, instead of His instruction, is sin.

In this series, Marked, we will examine Jesus’ goals for us in our spiritual maturation process. We will look at 7 MARKS of a true disciple. The absence of these marks means a person is not really Jesus’ disciple.
